мизинец - little finger (7th October 2011)

мизинец [mi-ZI-nets] (masculine noun) – a little finger

Эту ноту нужно играть мизинцем правой руки. = This note should be played with the little finger of the right hand.

У неё на мизинце было кольцо с крупным бриллиантом. = She was wearing a ring with a large diamond on her little finger.

"Мизинец" used to mean "youngest son" in old Russian, that's why it's the word for the shortest finger.
