карета - a coach (30th November 2011)

карета  [ka-RE-ta] (feminine noun) – a coach

В восемнадцатом веке русские дворяне ездили в каретах. = In the eighteenth century Russian nobles travelled in carriages.

 

"Карета" is a four-wheeled horse-drawn carriage. The word isn't usually used for any modern vehicles. However, there exists an expression "карета скорой помощи" = an ambulance.
