сова - owl (12th July 2011)

сова [sa-VA] (feminine noun) – an owl

В лесу ухали совы. = Owls hooted in the forest.

 

We also use the word "сова" for a person who prefers to go to bed late and get up late. Мой муж - сова, а я жаворонок. = My husband is an owl (prefers to go to bed late and get up late), and I'm a lark (prefer to go to bed early and get up early).
