раковина - seashell (19th July 2011)

раковина [RA-ka-vi-na] (feminine noun) – a seashell

Когда он нырял на Средиземном море, он нашёл удивительно красивую раковину. = While he was diving in the Mediterranean, he found an incredibly beautiful shell.

 

A small seashell is called "ракушка". Девочка собирала ракушки на пляже. = The girl was collecting seashells on the beach.

"Раковина" also means "a sink".
