ползать - to crawl (12th September 2011)

ползать / ползти [POL-zat'/pal-STI] (habitual/actual verb) – to crawl

Он увидел змею, которая ползла вверх по дереву. = He saw a snake that was crawling up the tree.

Ребёнок научился ползать. = The baby has learnt to crawl.

 

The past tense of "ползти": он полз, она ползла, они ползли.

This is a verb of motion. "Ползать" is a habitual verb and behaves like "ходить". "Ползти" is an actual verb and behaves like "идти".
