нечётное число  [ne-CHYOT-na-ye chis-LO] (adjective + neuter noun) – an odd number

Три, пять и семь - нечётные числа. = Three, five and seven are odd numbers.

Нечётные числа не делятся на два. = Odd numbers don't divide by two.

 

Opposite: чётное число = an even number.

If you give flowers to someone in Russia, you should make sure it's an odd number of flowers (3, 5, 7 etc.) On the contrary, if you leave flowers on a grave, it has to be an even number (4, 6, 8 etc.)
