картошка - potatoes (13th June 2011)

картошка [kar-TOSH-ka] (feminine noun) – potatoes (informal)

Я купил кило картошки. = I bought a kilo of potatoes.

Мой сын обожает картошку фри. = My son loves French fries.


"Картошка" is an uncountable noun. It's always singular, it doesn't have a plural form.

The formal word for potatoes is "картофель" but we usually use "картошка" in everyday life.
