помидор - a tomato (20th January 2012)

помидор  [pa-mi-DOR] (masculine noun) – a tomato

Я приготовила салат из помидоров и огурцов. = I've made a tomato and cucumber salad.


Synonym: томат. "Томат" is quite a formal word and is not usually used in spoken Russian. However, we often use the adjective that is derived from it: томатный. Томатный соус = tomato sauce.
