Искать иголку в стоге сена - to look for a needle in a haystack

Искать иголку в стоге сена  - to look for a needle in a haystack (= to look for something that is very difficult, nearly impossible to find)

На вокзале находятся в постоянном движении тысячи людей, и искать там вора - всё равно, что искать иголку в стоге сена. = There are thousands of people in constant movement at the railway station, and looking for the thief there is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

The literal translation of the idiom is absolutely identical to English, "to look for a needle in a haystack".
