Word in focus

чувак  [choo-VAK] (masculine noun) – dude, man, guy

А кто этот чувак? Ты его раньше здесь видел? = Who is that guy? Have you seen him here before?

У тебя что, чувак, совсем крыша поехала? =  Dude, are you nuts?

« Happy birthday! | Main | Is there a cash machine near here? »

What time is it?

Который час? [ka-TO-riy CHAS] - What time is it?

Извините, вы не подскажете, который час? = Excuse me, could you tell me the time, please?

We can also ask "Сколько времени?"

Извините, вы не знаете, сколько времени? = Excuse me, do you happen to know the time?

If you need to ask what time something happens, for example, what time a shop opens, you should use "во сколько".

Во сколько открывается магазин? = What time does the store open?

Во сколько мы можем встретиться? = What time can we meet?
