Could you call an ambulance, please?

Вызовите скорую, пожалуйста.  [VY-za-vi-te SKO-ru-yu, pa-ZHA-luy-sta] - Could you call an ambulance, please?

Бабушке плохо! Вызовите скорую, пожалуйста! = The old lady isn't well! Could you call an ambulance?

"Скорая" is short for "скорая помощь" = an ambulance, which literally means "fast help".

You can use the verb "вызвать" (= to call an emergency service) in other similar phrases, for example:

Вызовите врача, пожалуйста. = Could you call a doctor, please?

Мы вызвали пожарных. = We have called a fire brigade.

Нужно вызвать полицию. = We need to call the police.
